When is a Borewell Submersible Pump Not Right for Me?

There are often times when a borewell submersible pump might not be the most suitable option for the job. The following situations may mean that a borewell submersible may not be suitable:

    When the borewell has more probability of collapsing due to soft sand/mud
  • A borewell that has a possibility of collapsing can make the pump sink or fall in as well. Then retrieval of the pump may become near impossible
  • At certain locations, finding professional help in times of maintenance or repair is very difficult and may make removal and re-installation of the pump very onerous. Therefore maintenance becomes an issue

Centrifugal Monoblock

For domestic applications, these are an alternate option but come with a limitation of suction to less than 200 feet. If the source of the water is less than 200 feet, then this is the most suitable pump. Pump operates on dry ground, easy to access and maintain, and costs less than a borewell submersible pump. This cannot be an option if the source of water is more than 200 feet. Further, these will consume a lot of power since their efficiency cannot match borewell submersible pumps.

Compressors

For low-yield borewells, domestic and agricultural applications, this provides a very good option if the source of water is at less than 450 feet. The disadvantage is that this consumes a lot of time and power. So although this is a limited option, compressors can be opted for in case of government restrictions on borewell submersible pumps or new borewells in general.
